Before salvation, I was an enemy of God. I was hostile to Him. I did evil.

And yet now, having been saved by God who gave me His grace and faith, believing in my heart that Jesus of Nazareth was put to death, hung on a cross; that God raised Him up on the third day knowing Jesus’ claims and actions, affirming that Jesus spoke truth and did not blaspheme when He made Himself out to be God; and that after being raised He was seen by many witnesses chosen beforehand by God. I have openly said aloud, and will continue to tell any who would hear, that this evidence shows plainly that Jesus is Lord, and we must recognize Him as such!

Where I started, what I had done before? What matters is only this – believe in the Lord Jesus. The work of salvation is done by God, and God alone!

An amazing thing has happened in this… While I was still His enemy, God the Father reconciled me – not counting my sins, faults, and offenses against me – to Himself through the death of His Son, in order to present me before Him holy, blameless, beyond reproach. I am now in Christ no longer His enemy, the anger between us is gone. I am reconciled with God!

Since He has done this, I should draw near to Him with a sincere heart, being fully assured in the faith that He gave me, not wavering, for He who promised it is faithful!

What an amazing encouragement for we who are in Christ! What assurance we have!
